There are two types of health insurance and the first is the group coverage which is provided by the employer and the next one is the individual coverage which is placed by an individual employer.

The group plan is the plan where it is provided by your employers, the employer group plans are provided by private employers, government agencies and workers union and this is the form that is taken and used a health care insurance by many Americans.

The group insurance plans is where the employer will pay a part of the premiums and that is why they are least expensive, in addition they offer comprehensive coverage than the individual plans in this plan you are likely to be covered for maternity care ,preventative care and even dental.

the individual plan is where if your employer does not arrange for your insurance plan you can go ahead and buy it by yourself, this can be bought from marketplaces and insurance exchanges.

The individual health benefit is more costly than the group plan and this is because you are the one who is responsible for all the payments and they also tend to limit in the coverage.

The most common type of health insurance plan is the POS, PPO, EPO, HMO which all depend with what you can afford, the HMO plan is where you are covered within your network and in case of an emergency you are always permitted to go outside the network and if you see a specialist and need a procedure you will need referral from GP first.

The point of service plan is a less expensive option and this option you do not have to stay in your network for coverage with the POS plan but you will be required to have a referral when you are in need of a procedure.

Because HMO and POS plans require to have referrals for specialists and procedures ,many people will not he attracted to this option and will opt to have a lower cut of the pocket cost insurance cover that will allow you to see your physician like the PPO.

The EPO plan will require you to stay in your coverage network except when you have an emergency, the EPO plan allows you to see a physician that you choose without referrals from primary physician.
